CASSAREEP CAFE

VIEW FROM CASSAREEP CAFE
There are certain spots in the Caribbean that hold a special place in our Handpicked Villas memory. Little pieces of paradise that are not on the typical tourist trail, but are undiscovered gems that you feel lucky to have visited and experienced. CASSAREEP CAFE in Speightstown is just one of those places. When I lived in Barbados, working in St Peter, I was introduced to the best kept secret on the west coast in the form of Sam and his incredible beachside retreat.
SAM
Cassareep cafe is hidden off Queen’s Street (the main beachside route through Speightstown), and used to be our favourite lunchtime haunt, as well as weekend party spot. Their beachfront location is hidden from the main road, but head to the benches at the back and you feel as if you’ve stepped into paradise. However, I cant praise this quaint culinary spot without mentioning the delicious home-cooked, fresh food that is served there. Despite their EXTENSIVE BAJAN MENU, I used to ask Sam and the girls for the daily special, whether that be freshly caught fish straight from the open air barbecue, or the succulent curry lamb that just had the most delicious spicing.
EVERYONE’S A FAN OF THE FOOD
We certainly miss the 20 minutes of bliss this little hideaway used to offer each lunchtime and urge you to head down there on your holiday for a spicy roti or one of the best coffees on the island.
