As all of our luxury villas in Mallorca are self catering, we would like to share with you our expert advice on the best places to pick up local produce. Our villas in Southern Mallorca, mainly those with proximity to Cala D’Or may benefit from the following local markets.
Most markets in Mallorca are held in the morning. Try to arrive before 10.30am because many markets are all finished and packed up by 1.30pm.
The nearest big markets are at Santanyi and Felanitx. Bargains to be had are lace tablecloths and leather handbags, but do try to haggle over the price. Fruit, vegetables and fresh meat are also found at many markets, making stocking up for a family BBQ a truly enjoyable experience. The markets are easily reached by bus or taxi, which our concierge team can assist you with whilst on-island.
There are two markets at nearby Campos, one on a Thursday and one on Saturday. The Saturday one is the better of the two – there isn’t much there on Thursday.
There is also a small street market at nearby Porto Colom on Tuesday – but it is only a small market. However, the town is beautiful and is well worth going to see. Coupled with a stroll around the harbour area, it makes a great family day out.
Some of the island’s markets you may wish to visit are held on the following days:
|Tuesday||Alcudia – Arta|
|Wednesday||Santanyi – Lluchmajor – Andraitx – Puerto Pollensa – Sa Coma (pm – Summer only)|
|Thursday||Inca – Campos|
|Saturday||Palma – Santanyi – Campos|
|Sunday||Alcudia – Porto Cristo – Felanitx|
